Except hope. No matter whether the former black metal warriors and singer Kristoffer ‘Garm’ Rygg perform with guttural screams and double bass drum storms or sing string-filled arias, whether they play heavyweight dope beats full of buzzing electronics or fading funeral songs on the piano: Ulver is the only band in the world, that you can idolise as a Portishead fan, just as much as if you are a Slayer fan.
