<br />Ulver <br />
Ulver (Norwegian for ‘wolves’) is a band that does everything. Except hope. No matter whether the former black metal warriors and singer Kristoffer ‘Garm’ Rygg perform with guttural screams and double bass drum storms or sing string-filled arias, whether they play heavyweight dope beats full of buzzing electronics or fading funeral songs on the piano: Ulver is the only band in the world, that you can idolise as a Portishead fan, just as much as if you are a Slayer fan. And their attitude remains the same, just as Rygg said three years ago at the launch of their last album, ‘Shadows Of The Sun’: “Nature is pretty fucking depressing, we are all here to die.”
