'Storm Breaks' from 'Alone' (Odna)

- Music by Dmitri Shostakovich

Storm scene from the first Soviet film to use sound.

Although this is a modern recording, this brief excerpt from Shostakovich's 'Alone' or 'Odna' is a historic theremin moment. As the first Soviet Sound film, Odna was a political tool used to show soviet superiority and technological progress. Naturally, it was decided that a theremin should be used in the score, and Shostakovich used the instrument to great effect.
