midi shirt controller |

This may be of interest. if a glove is also developed and attached to the sleave of this garment, then a recording of the physical playing of a theremin could be made parallel to the audio recording. MIDI data can be mapped to do what you want it to given the proper software.

 Theremin UKAnnouncementtheremin.org.uk goes live
This is the tale of our Nelly, a Brit who was watching the telly, when she saw upon the screen a most unusual music machine that made a wondrous, singular sound; eerie, melodic, mournful, profound. A theremin. You may have guessed, but wait until you hear the rest… As then announced our eager Miss, “I need to hear some more of this.” And so she searched the internet, saying, “I will find a gig. Yet will I have that much success? The internet is such a mess!” But here she had a nice surprise, for there, sat right before her eyes, was just a perfect little list of concerts that she might have missed, dotted all around the land, and there was a band quite close to hand. Well, after she had seen them play, she bought a theremin next day, and soon she learned to make it sing. It took a bit of struggling, but there was something else she found; a list of players on home ground. She met some of her local group, who helped her with the rod and loop. And with that boost, that hand, that lift, she found out that she had the gift! She’s on the list herself, you know, and to her concerts you should go, as an agent also found the list, and contacted our gifted Miss… So when you see her, by and by, take a moment to say hi, as she’s the famous player, Nelly, the thereminist from on the telly! We
are delighted to announce the opening of theremin.org.uk, a register of
UK thereminists and the ideal place to announce your gigs and other UK
events and theremin news. Sign up now.
There are a limited number of free yourname@theremin.org.uk e-mail addresses for the first UK thereminists to place their profiles on the site. theremin.org.uk is run by UK thereminists for UK thereminists.

Eric Ross on Number 1 Album in Japan
Musician Eric Ross is guest artist on the No.1 charted CD in Japan. He plays theremin, guitar and synthesizer on Aqi Fzono's "Cosmology". It broke in at No.5 ranking just two days after it was released. It shot to No.1 and has been there for a few weeks according to the CGI Heavy Seller ranking compiled each day, week and month. Fzono, a synthesist and orchestral composer has had several hits in Japan in the past. This time Cosmix Records immediately added an Eric Ross webpage in Japanese linked to Fzono's many fan websites. It introduces Ross as an “ important man in the electronic music world and theremin music pioneer" Ross has performed concerts of his original works at Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, and at major international jazz festivals including Newport, Berlin, Montreux, North Sea and Copenhagen among many others. He often performs multimedia concerts with his wife, video artist, Mary Ross.

Persephone fingerboard synthesizer |
 |
Anonymous writes "MESI MONSTERSYNTHS/EOWAVE PRESS RELEASE - MARCH 2006 The Persephone is finally released!
The Persephone is a fingerboardanalogue synthesizer with CV and MIDI in and out. At the first sight, thePersephone reminds of the first electronic fingerboard instrumentsdeveloped in the 1920s. But beyond this vintage look, the Persephoneallies sensors technology and digital controls to a pure analoguegeneration of sound. The Persephone respects the traditional way of playing of the first non-keyboard electronic instruments with the right hand controlling the pitch and the left hand controlling the amplitude. When scaled, the Persephone can be played like a regular keyboard. Though there are no fixed preset notes with the ribbon, keyboard players will easily find their way. Guitars and bass players will certainly play it like a chord instrument and get sounds that are closed to cello or violin, especially when using vibratos. Jazz players will enjoy slapping the Persephone’s ribbon to get wonderful sonorities. Movie music writers and fans of sci-fi effects will enjoy its bi-dimensional structure, which allows creating eerie sounds very easily. A new fingerboard synthesizer Just like any synthesizer, the Persephone offers a classical synthesis architecture with an oscillator section, a filter section, a modulation section and a LFO section. With its 100% analogue oscillator, the Persephone can generate notes with a range of 10 octaves. Its lower frequencies go from a deep and resonant cello tone to a nearly human voice. On the highest pitches, it can reach very high frequencies. The oscillator waveform can be set between triangle and sawtooth for a more or less brilliant sound. The filter is a 6dB low-pass filter. Its ribbon control surface is pressure and position sensitive. A scaling potentiometer allows scaling the Persephone’s ribbon from 1, 2, 5 to 10 octaves. The expression key, controlled by an optic sensor, can transmit the slightest vibrations on the key. The four play modes - A, B, C and D - offer different hierarchy of control between the pitch, the velocity, a filter modulation and a LFO. Connections are located on the rear side.
The Persephone as a CV/MIDI controller The Persephone has a CV out and a MIDI in/out. With its CV out, it can control any other analogue synthesizers and modular systems. With its MIDI in/out, it can also be used as a MIDI controller, what turns it into a powerful new kind of instrument.
Technical Specifications Suitcase version or desktop version available Scale : 1, 2, 5 to 10 octaves. Tune Finetune Brightness. Waveforms from sinus to triangle website: www.monstersynths.com "
